Dogs on a trail with Walk Like A Dog

In-home dog care · Greater Austin area, Texas

We want your dog actually tired, in a good way

A wiped-out dog usually got work for their body and their head. We mix walks, runs, play, or quiet time depending on the day, and we keep using whatever training you're already doing so it still counts when you're not there.

Plenty of people clip on a leash. We show up for the dog you live with.

Big apps and loud daycares are built for throughput, not for whether your dog needed something to think about today, or whether "wait" still meant the same thing at pickup as it did at drop-off.

  1. Started by a trainer

We think about obedience and weird little behaviors, not only whether the leash looks tidy.

  2. Breed actually matters

A tired border collie and a tired basset do not look the same. We adjust.

  3. Same rules you use

Your cues and boundaries carry through so you're not redoing Monday what you fixed Friday.

  4. At your place

Home turf beats a packed playroom if your dog is the wallflower type.

  5. Brain and body

Step counts are tidy on a phone. A dog that can finally exhale usually needed more than a loop around the block.

  6. All good dogs welcome

If someone else already said no, still ask us. We mean it.

Services

The plan is whoever's on the other end of the leash that day.

Dog walking
Neighborhood routes calibrated to your dog's breed and training stage. Leash work included, no extra charge.
In-home sitting
We come to your place, follow your house rules, and keep things calm while you're out.
Running & play
For the high-energy ones. Off-leash time, fetch, a real run — whatever they actually need that day.
Quiet time
Some dogs need rest and company more than miles. We'll settle in and do that.
Recurring schedules
Same walker, consistent rhythm. Steady routine matters more than most people realize.

Questions we get a lot

Plain language about how we work in Greater Austin area, Texas.

What is breed-aware in-home dog care?
We look at breed, age, and what kind of tired your dog actually needs, then plan the visit around that. Everything happens at your place or on your usual neighborhood routes. You tell us your cues and house rules; we stick to them so you're not starting over every time you walk back in the door.
What areas does Walk Like A Dog serve?
Greater Austin, Texas. Drop your neighborhood or ZIP when you write in and we'll say if we're a fit and what drive time looks like.
How is Walk Like A Dog different from Rover, Wag, or daycare?
Those apps optimize for volume; daycare optimizes for a room full of dogs. We're one visit, one dog (or your household), with head space for training and the weird little habits that actually matter. Some dogs love a playgroup. Some shut down. We're built for the second kind, and for anyone who wants their words for "wait" to still mean something at pickup.
Will you use the same training words and rules we use at home?
Yes. Tell us what you're working on. We'll use your cues on walks, during play, and on the couch so Monday doesn't undo what you fixed on Friday.
What services do you offer?
Dog walking, in-home sitting, running or play when they need to move, quiet time when they don't, and recurring slots if you want a steady rhythm. The shape of the visit follows the dog in front of us that day.
